Honesty first: TesseraMesh is a specification, a set of designs and a plan. It is not a product. This page says exactly how far it has come. Last updated 9 October 2026.
What exists
- A full requirements document for the app and the ecosystem
- A plain-language description of what it does
- A printable case design for the Tessera, version 0.4, with parts list
- Concept drawings for six hardware parts
What does not
- App code. Not a line is public
- Our own firmware
- A printed and tested Tessera
- Range, battery or waterproofing measurements
- Anything you can buy
What comes next
- A technical test of the three questions that decide the architecture
- The first printed Tessera case, and the fixes it will need
- The core of the app: map, check-in, SOS, messages, plan
The order of things
| Stage | What |
|---|---|
| First | The app with bought trackers, for one group |
| Then | Firmware so a tracker is useful without a phone, and the Tessera as hardware |
| Then | Repeater, charging station, mast kit, hub |
| Later | Long-haul bridge, drone relay, sensors and the rest of the line-up |
There are no dates on purpose. This is built in spare time, and a date here would be a guess.
A word on the law
The radios use licence-free bands with limits on power and airtime, and the design stays inside them. The long-haul bridge needs an amateur radio licence. Rules differ by country, and whoever builds a device is responsible for how it is used.
